Gifted and Talented Maryland Students To Strengthen Fine And Performing Arts Skills at Salisbury University

WHAT:  The Maryland Summer Center for the Fine and Performing Arts at Salisbury University is a two-week residential program allowing students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to gain a sense of living in an artists’ community. The students will enhance their unique abilities and learning style while they participate in one of the following course offerings: orchestra, musical theater performance, acting, integrated visual arts studio, digital filmmaking, or creative writing.

The students will have the opportunity to participate in field trips, workshops, and performances by guest artists, as well as use state-of-the-art facilities, including professional rehearsal, production, and performance spaces.

The 2014 Maryland Summer Centers Program continues a 47-year commitment at the State level to provide summer educational opportunities for Maryland’s gifted and talented students. The program, coordinated through the Maryland State Department of Education, in partnership with public and nonpublic agencies, provides Maryland’s diverse gifted and talented student population with advanced, rigorous, experiential learning opportunities that nurture these students’ talents and abilities within unique learning environments.

WHO:  Gifted and Talented students, entering grades 7 – 12, interested in studying visual art, music/orchestra, musical theater, digital filmmaking, creative writing, and acting.
