Meeting Notice: Governor’s Intergovernmental Commission for Agriculture to Meet June 1

ANNAPOLIS, MD –  The Governor’s Intergovernmental Commission for Agriculture (GICA) will meet on Thursday, June 1, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the lower level conference room at the Maryland Department of Agriculture, 50 Harry S. Truman Pkwy., Annapolis. The agenda topics include: Maryland’s Value-Added Agriculture – Baltimore Metropolitan Council Report, Inspection Guidelines for Wedding Barns, “Where to Find the Ag Money & How to Get It,” an update on Food Safety Programs at the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and recommendations for updates to the GICA Toolkit.

The Governor’s Intergovernmental Commission for Agriculture was established in 2006 to “promote the economic profitability of agriculture in the State by ensuring that all appropriate State agencies work in a cooperative, coordinated manner with local government and industry groups in planning, implementing, overseeing and evaluating intergovernmental initiatives related to agricultural affairs of the State.”  For more information, contact Matthew Teffeau, Director of Government Relations, at (410) 841-5886.
