Spend Maryland Farmers Market Nutrition Program Checks (FMNP) Before Nov. 30

ANNAPOLIS, MD – For WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program participants who receive Maryland Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks, November 30 is the deadline date to spend the checks before the end of the program this year.

While visiting local farmers’ market, Farmers Market Nutrition Program participants can use their checks before the end of the month to purchase delicious in-season produce such as crisp apples, fresh kale, cabbage, collards and turnips, pumpkins for pumpkin pie and much more!

In Maryland, all of the 140 Maryland Department of Agriculture Recognized Farmers’ Markets have authorized farmers at each market who participate in the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) for Women, Infants & Children (WIC-FMNP) and for Seniors (SFMNP), which enables qualified low income women, children, and seniors to have access to fresh fruits, vegetables, cut herbs and honey (seniors only). Approximately 400 farmers participate annually in the program statewide.

To receive the value of the checks in produce, participants must spend their FMNP checks by November 30. To be paid for any checks taken as payment, farmers who have received checks must deposit them by December 5. For questions regarding the FMNP program, please contact Shelby Watson Hampton at (410)-841-5776 or Shelby.Watson@Maryland.gov
