New Maryland Farm & Harvest Season Debuts Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.

The first episode of Maryland Farm & Harvest Season 3 will air next Tuesday, November 10 at 7 p.m.

Episode Description

  • Researchers at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore are taking to the skies for a new perspective on farming. They’re using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles—known colloquially as drones—to save farmers money and decrease nutrient runoff by determining exactly how much fertilizer should be applied to a field.
  • When a horse has a toothache, equine dentist David Butts is the man to call. He goes straight to the horses mouth to pull out baby teeth and file down sharp edges. And he does it all without sedating the horse.
  • Harford County farmer John Johnson knows that healthy soil is a key ingredient to a successful farm. That’s why he’s called in the soil doctors to perform a “check-up.” These soil scientists examine the soil—from roots to microbes—to ensure it’s as productive as possible.
  • The Local Buy: Al Spoler is cooking up an appetite using farm-fresh ingredients at Rumbleway Farm
  • Then & Now: Soil Conservation
