ANNAPOLIS, MD – Below is a statement from Maryland Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance on the passage of the Farm Bill.

“The U.S. Senate has passed the Farm Bill Conference Report to extend farm programs for another five years. Last week the U.S. House of Representatives voted to do the same. We thank Senators Mikulski and Cardin for working with Senate leadership to move this important bill forward. We look forward to working with the Administration and the Maryland Congressional Delegation as the Farm Bill is implemented to see that Maryland farmers get the programs they need, including energy, conservation, specialty crop, vital safety-net programs for dairy producers, and commodity funding.

“A strong Farm Bill will help our State expand its renewable fuel portfolio, preserve productive, open farmland and the Chesapeake Bay, support rural quality of life and economies, and provide locally grown food for our residents.”
