Parole and Probation agent treats us “All like human beings”
TOWSON, MD — The June 7 graduation of nearly 100 GED and trade program inmates at Public Safety’s largest prison featured accolades for Snow Hill Parole and Probation Agent Michelle Peeples as well as hard-working Eastern Correctional Institution and Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (DLLR) Correctional Education employees.
Richard Alchin left Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover in 2014. Through hard work, and thanks to DLLR, Division of Correction, and Parole and Probation employees, Alchin today is a successful plumbing supervisor and a great provider for his family.
On June 7, Alchin was invited back to Eastern Correctional Institution as keynote speaker for the West Compound graduation. He especially praised Agent Peeples, about whom he recently wrote a letter to Public Safety.
Agent Peeples was there too.
Here’s a portion of Alchin’s letter:
About 18 months ago, Agent Peeples took my case, and right from the start she listened to my concerns and allowed me to work in Delaware and even came in early on Tuesday mornings in the Ocean City branch to allow myself and other clients to report earlier and get to our respected employment.
I went to Agent Peeples about six months after she started monitoring me and explained what a great opportunity my current employer had given me. I told her about trying to obtain my apprentice plumbing license in the State of Maryland and that they were requiring a letter from my employer and Parole Agent. She took the time to not only listen to me but wrote me a letter that assisted me in obtaining my Apprentice License in the State of Maryland. I can’t tell you how proud it makes me to have my license and the fact that Agent Peeples took the time to write a letter shows her commitment to her clients. By treating us all like human beings rather than just a number makes me want to work harder and achieve more. Agent Peeples has never rushed me and has always been polite and professional at every one of our appointments.
Agent Peeples has truly been a positive factor in my success and she is always reassuring us that with hard work and commitment we can become anything. I truly feel Agent Peeples is a great asset to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
Public Safety salutes Agent Peeples, and all of the Division of Correction, Parole and Probation, and Correctional Education employees who truly make a difference in turning lives around.
