Allan Fisher Named Assistant Secretary for Mission Support

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources today announced the appointment of Allan Fisher as assistant secretary for mission support. In this position, Fisher will oversee the department’s budget, human resources and licensing units among others.

“Allan is a highly accomplished executive who has led high-level organizations to achieve real and sustainable results,” said Secretary Mark Belton. “His depth of knowledge of complex budgetary systems, ability to develop and implement strategic partnerships, and experience in organizational management will be a tremendous addition to our leadership team.”

In past roles, Fisher served as director of administration for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, associate administrator for administration and chief financial officer of the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and chief financial officer and director of administrative services for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

His experience includes guiding senior management teams throughout all business areas, including finance, human resources, management information systems, facilities and project management.

Fisher, who holds a doctorate in management from Walden University, has been a lecturer on business practices at University of Delaware. He previously instructed a graduate course at Johns Hopkins University.

Fisher is a graduate of Baruch College, and in addition to his doctorate holds a master of public administration degree from American University, and a Master of Science in information resources management degree from Syracuse University.
