Elk Neck State Forest Arboretum Trail Now Open

Elk Neck State Forest Arboretum Trail

After a year of planning and construction, the new Arboretum Trail at Elk Neck State Forest is now open to the public. The trail consists of a half-mile walking track, picnic tables, benches, numerous interpretive signs, and 96 native trees and shrubs with educational labels.

The trail was developed on lands acquired by DNR’s Program Open Space in 2011. DNR created the site under the US Department of Transportation’s National Recreational Trails Program using a grant administered by the State Highway Administration.

Located at 2456 Old Elk Neck Road, Elkton, the DNR-managed trail and day-use area are open sunrise to sunset, seven days per week, except during inclement weather. For more information visit or call the forest office at 410-287-5675.
