Natural Resources Police LogoThe Maryland Natural Resources Police issued citations to three Western Maryland men last weekend for natural resources and drug violations.

Allegany County – A Baltimore man was charged on May 10 with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after officers questioned him at a camp site in Green Ridge State Forest.

Alexander Wilson Rodgers, 31, admitted that a pipe sitting on a table was his and gave officers a bag of marijuana he had in his vehicle.

If found guilty in Allegany District Court, Rodgers faces a maximum jail sentence of 90 days and a $1,000 fine.

Garrett County – Officers on patrol in SavageStateForest on May 9 charged a Brandywine man with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Robert Curtis Swartzwelder, 34, was issued two citations. If found guilty in Garrett District Court at a later date, he faces a maximum jail sentence of 90 days and a $1,000 fine.

Washington County ­­­– Officers charged a Clear Spring man on May 10 with illegally hunting wild turkeys.

Merle Edward Keefer, 77, was issued a citation after he was found hunting at 7:45 a.m. in an area that had been baited with cracked corn. He also was issued a warning for hunting in a safety zone.

He is schedule to appear in Washington District Court on July 15. If found guilty, Keefer could be fined up to $1,500.
