This year’s Maryland Land Conservation Conference will address the many challenges facing land conservationists throughout the State and will feature keynote speaker DNR Secretary Joe Gill. Bigger and better than ever, this two-day event will include educational workshops, field trips, peer-to-peer networking opportunities and an evening reception.
“I look forward to speaking to − and learning from − Maryland’s conservation professionals,” said Secretary Gill. “No two experiences are alike when it comes to protecting our State’s natural resources. In this avenue of work we rely on partnerships with landowners, planners, local trusts and community leaders to reach our goals.”
With an impressive lineup of speakers from across the Chesapeake Bay region, this year’s event will delve into a variety of topics including building new partnerships, marketing and fundraising strategies, engaging landowners, smart targeting for conservation areas, large landscape conservation, managing working lands, urban land conservation successes, water quality, new trends and emerging issues.
The annual event unites land trust volunteers, staff and board members, as well as conservation organizations, environmental advocates, elected officials and planners from federal, state and local governments. Participants will share their experiences and exchange ideas through a series of lively, open discussions.
