Maryland Natural Resources Police charged an Allegany County man last Tuesday with violating state hunting regulations.
Henry Clayton Vance Livengood, 23, of Cumberland was charged with deer hunting during a closed season, and hunting without written permission, after officers on patrol found him with a dead eight-point buck at Barton Industrial Park.
Livengood told police he had permission to hunt from the landowner and that he shot the deer with a muzzleloader. When pressed, he admitted he shot the deer with a 30-30 rifle and that he had done so on adjacent property where he did not have permission to hunt.
The deer was seized and donated to a needy family.
A court date has not been set. The maximum fine for the two citations is a total of $3,000.
