Get in the holiday spirit with a visit to Santa’s Magic Workshop! Guests are invited to visit with Santa in the old cabin, check out an array of festive train displays, take a hayride through the illuminated forest and create their own tree ornaments and pinecone birdfeeders.

Staff will be available to help young participants make their own unique holiday craft. Volunteers will be serving complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and cookies. Throughout the events, the park will be hosting  leisurely hayrides through the  Enchanted Campground, which features a forest full of lights and holiday displays.

While there is no admission fee for the event, visitors are encouraged to bring donations for local charities and as in the past, the park will be collecting non-perishable food items for St. Martin’s Barn. Monetary contributions will go to support the efforts of the Caroline County Humane Society.

“Thanks to our generous visitors, over the past few years we have been able to provide more than 12 tons of canned and boxed goods for St. Martin’s Barn to benefit our neighbors in need,” said Park Manager John Ohler. “We are hoping that the local community enjoys this year’s Christmas program, and will make a donation to support these important groups and the work they do.”

Additionally, guests are invited to grab their friends and family for an evening of outdoor fun at Santa Chase, a two-mile run/walk through Martinak State Park, at 7:30 p.m. on December 14. Participants are encouraged to dress themselves – and dogs! – in their most festive holiday garb. Prizes will be awarded to the top two male and female runners in each age group, as well as the top three runner/canine teams. Special awards will also be given for the most memorable costumes. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Caroline County Humane Society and Ridgely Lions Club.

Visitors can also take a captivating drive through the festive twinkling lights at the Enchanted Campground, open from sunset until 9 p.m., now through December 31. Donation boxes to benefit St. Martin’s Barn and Caroline County Hospice will be located at the entrance to the campground.

Martinak State Park has hosted Santa’s Magic Workshop for the past 23 years in cooperation with the Caroline County Recreation and Parks Department, and the all-volunteer Friends of Martinak and Tuckahoe State Parks.
