NRP Charges Three Men with Hunting Out of Season

Natural Resources Police LogoActing on a citizen tip, Maryland Natural Resources Police officers on patrol near Oldtown charged three Anne Arundel County men with multiple hunting infractions on Saturday.

Jason Dana Calloway, 29, Zachary Ryan Janikiewicz, 23, and Daniel Avis Hackman, 36 — all of Glen Burnie — were cited for hunting without a Maryland license and hunting during a closed season. The three men also were issued warnings for failure to wear blaze orange and failure to possess a secondary form of identification.

Officers arrived at 11 a.m. at in the vicinity of Martins Mountain Lane after a citizen complained that the hunters were using rifles during muzzleloader season.

Janikiewicz was hunting with a shotgun with rifled slugs. Hackman had a 30-30 lever action rifle. Calloway shot a deer with his muzzleloader and then a .45-caliber handgun.

The men are scheduled to appear on December 12 in Allegany District Court.
