Glen Burnie Man Arrested for Theft from Boats

Natural Resources Police LogoA Glen Burnie man was arrested this past Sunday in connection with the theft of marine electronics from five vessels at Shipley’s Anchorage Marina on Bodkin Creek in Pasadena.

Matthew Alexander Dates, 21, has been charged with one count of felony theft over $1,000, two counts of misdemeanor theft under $1,000, and three counts of fourth-degree burglary theft.

The electronics were reported stolen to Natural Resources Police on Sept. 13. Two days later, the victims noticed that someone using a Glen Burnie address posted on Craig’s List electronics that matched the stolen models.

Undercover NRP officers contacted the seller to make a purchase. The serial number of one of the GPS units matched a unit reported stolen.

Dates is scheduled for trial on Dec. 20 in Annapolis District Court.
