Earleville Man Drowns in Bohemia River

Natural Resources Police LogoThe Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) is investigating the drowning of Louis James Durso, Sr., 75 of Earleville, Md., on the Bohemia River in Cecil County.

The county’s 911 center received a call at 7:09 p.m., on July 22, of an unattended boat moving in circles in Veazey Cove on the Bohemia River. A rescue boat from the Cecilton Volunteer Fire Company arrived on scene at 7:30 p.m. to find a Jon boat going in circles and Durso floating in the water. His body was taken to shore at Bohemia Vista Marina where he was pronounced dead.

Durso was not wearing a lifejacket and no foul play is suspected in the incident. Units from Cecil County and Chesapeake City were also on the scene.

NRP investigators suspect Durso fell overboard and drowned. His body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
