Free Fishing in Maryland June 8 and July 4
DNR to Host Bill Burton Family Fishing Derby
Marylanders and visitors, old pros and first-timers ─ everyone is invited to grab a rod, get outside and enjoy the State’s excellent fishing opportunities through free fishing days on June 8 and July 4. No license, stamp or registration is required to fish in Maryland waters on these days.
As always, anglers must adhere to fishing regulations, including size and possession limits, which available online in the new digital 2013 Maryland Fishing Guide. Printed copies of the guide are offered at most Maryland tackle shops and any of the seven Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Service Centers.
Maryland also features 23 unique license free fishing areas, where anglers can fish without a license anytime they want.
DNR is helping young anglers celebrate free fishing days with the annual Bill Burton Family Fishing Derby, where parent-child teams will fish for fun and prizes. The event is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 8 at the Bill Burton Fishing Pier, located on the Talbot County side of the Choptank River at Route 50. Registration is free and will take place before the derby, between 8 and 9 a.m. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
DNR invites young people to and keep up-to-date on youth fishing events by joining the free Maryland Youth Fishing Club, and encourages anglers of all ages to share their photos and experiences through the Maryland Angler’s Log.
