The Friends of South Mountain State Battlefield is seeking new members to support and advance its cause of providing fun, family-friendly, historical events and interpretations associated with the area.
“Having an organization like the Friends of South Mountain State Battlefield advocate and volunteer on behalf of our State Parks is a powerful thing,” said Park Manager Dan Spedden. “The dedication of citizen volunteers is easily recognized by legislators and granting organizations. We appreciate and need the support.”
The Friends of South Mountain State Battlefield ─ an incorporated, non-profit ─ works on behalf of South Mountain State Battlefield, Gathland State Park and Washington Monument State Park. The goal of the meeting is to recruit new members, officers and directors that will work to protect, preserve and interpret the Civil War and other cultural and historical heritage sites at the parks. Current members of the organization, and State Park employees and volunteers will also be in attendance.
