The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) charged numerous people with violations in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot and Wicomico counties in February.

Anne Arundel County ─ On February 6, Joshua Alther, 38, of Edgewater was charged with catching striped bass during closed season. NRP seized 18 fish, which they donated to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. A trial date of April 19, 2013 has been set in Anne Arundel County District Court.

Baltimore County ─ On February 6, Kenneth Foote, 51, of Middle River was charged with possessing and using gill nets with unmarked corks, and possessing undersized striped bass with a gill net.

Dorchester County ─ On February 13, James Albert Faulkner Jr., 51, of Linkwood was charged with power-dredging in an area of the Choptank River reserved for hand-tonging. The six bushels of oyster were returned to Maryland waters.

Queen Anne County ─ On February 4, Deny Coursey, 37 of Centreville, was charged with possessing undersized oysters and failing to display boat registration numbers. Coursey was also issued 11 warnings for various violations. A trial date of March 13, 2013 is set in Queen Anne County District Court.

Somerset County ─ On February 7, Danny Tyler, 47, of Tylerton was charged with possession of undersized oysters. On February 22, Joseph Janda Jr., 27, of Wittman was charged with engaging in oyster activity with a revoked license.  A trial date of April 9, 2013 has been set in Somerset County District Court.

Talbot County ─ On February 11, Keith Eric Thomas, 40, of Stevensville was charged with harvesting oysters from an oyster sanctuary of the Tred Avon River. This is Thomas’ second violation of the year, as he was also caught harvesting oysters from a sanctuary of the Tred Avon on January 3. 

Wicomico County ─ On February 3, NRP and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department participated in a saturation patrol looking for people Driving Under the Influence (DUI). The patrol resulted in NRP officers issuing nine citations and five warnings, and arresting Hanna McFadden, 22, of Salisbury with Driving While Intoxicated and two other traffic violations. A trial date of April 1, 2013 is set for the individuals charged in Wicomico County District Court.
