DNR to Host Bounty of the Bay Dinner

From smoky plates of roasted oysters to baked rockfish filets, next week’s third annual Bounty of the Bay is sure to be a crowd pleaser, delighting diners’ taste buds with some of the best seafood in the nation. Hosted by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and The Rockfish restaurant, the dinner will include a raw bar and a five-course meal featuring local oysters, striped bass, dogfish and blue catfish. Tickets are limited, so those interested in attending are encouraged to register today.

“The Bounty of the Bay is a celebration of Maryland’s legendary seafood and the hardworking men and women behind it,” said DNR Secretary John Griffin. “In buying fresh, local seafood you are getting a delicious, high quality product and supporting the State’s watermen, seafood retailers, and restaurants.”

Through the event, DNR and its partners are working to highlight the iconic fare that comes from the Chesapeake and recognize the waterman who labor to provide it. The dinner will also introduce often overlooked dishes such as dogfish.

The dinner comes on the heels of the successful From the Bay, For the Bay Dine Out, which raised $25,000 in October for native oyster restoration efforts.
