Second Boat Battery Thief Arrested
The Maryland Natural Resource Police (NRP) made a second arrest Sunday evening after a lengthy investigation into a series of boat battery thefts in Anne Arundel County.
NRP officers obtained a warrant and arrested Ryan Andrew Valunas, 18 of Pasadena, on November 4. Valunas allegedly stole batteries with Cody Jay Tyler Dudley, 21 of Pasadena, who was arrested on October 24, 2012.
NRP has a collection of stolen batteries being held as evidence. Anyone who had theirs stolen between July 20 and August 2, 2012, should call NRP Area 3 office at 410-295-4600, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m to claim. Those who have already reported their battery theft are asked to contact their area office as soon as possible to help in the prosecution of these criminals.
Since marine batteries do not having any identifying characteristics, NRP asks that all boat owners etch their driver’s license number into their battery so that it can be identified if stolen.
