Boat Battery Thief Arrested

by Martha

The Maryland Natural Resource Police (NRP) made an arrest yesterday in a month-long investigation of a series of boat battery thefts in Anne Arundel County.

NRP officers arrested Cody Jay Tyler Dudley, 21 of Pasadena, on October 24. Dudley was the main suspect in the lengthy investigation. He admitted to stealing more than 20 marine batteries.

Dudley had an accomplice during most of the thefts. NRP asks anyone with information about the other individual to call 410-295-4600 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Since marine batteries do not having any identifying characteristics, NRP asks that all boat owners etch their Maryland registration number into their battery so that it can be identified if stolen.
